September 22, 2006, Newsletter Issue #32: Don't Wait To Plan Your Military School Reunion

Tip of the Week

Some people complete basic training, technical training, or military school, then graduate and say to their classmates "See you at our military school reunion!" Years later, when they start thinking about seeing the old gang again, everyone has had multiple permanent change of station moves, assignments and career changes. How to find them all now?

For those currently going through their military schooling, it's simple--circulate a roster among your classmates with a good permanent home address, email and phone number, and have at least one person take charge of the list as 'reunion coordinator'. Everyone else on the list is responsible for updating the coordinator with new email addresses and contact information as time goes by. When the day comes to plan the big reunion, the coordinator knows where everyone is at, more or less, and can most likely contact those who are a bit behind in their updates by contacting one of the other classmates.

A military school reunion is much easier to plan if you can start prior to graduation. The roster makes it easy to track down the others, and you can use it to stay in touch in the meantime.
