March 9, 2007, Newsletter Issue #54: Holiday Homestays

Tip of the Week

Many bases need volunteer families for holiday homestay programs, where junior military people in training are hosted for Thanksgiving or the Christmas holiday season. Because these soldiers are in 'training status' they have many restrictions on them during training time---they are often restricted to the base with little time away from their studies.

The holiday homestay program is a welcome relief from all that, and is a great comfort for those far from home just getting used to a military environment. To support a soldier over the holidays, call your nearest military base and ask for the Family Support or Family Service center. You'll soon learn how you can host a soldier and make a difference over the holiday season.
