March 30, 2007, Newsletter Issue #57: Graduation from Basic and Technical School

Tip of the Week

Whether it's basic training or technical school, graduation day is a big event in your new military career. Many people wonder if they are allowed to invite their families onto the military base to watch them graduate, and the good news is, yes, you are permitted to sign your family members onto the base for the ceremonies. You can even take them on a tour of the base afterwards in many cases.

What's usually required is that you meet them in a reception area where military security forces troops allow you to 'sign' for them. Your family members will need a picture ID and if they are driving onto the military base, proof of auto insurance. They will be given a temporary parking pass and allowed to pass through the front gate. The military graduation ceremony is quite impressive to see, your family will be very proud to see you graduate and start a new career in the Armed Forces.
